Traditionally, art models rarely had a face- a name... they were predominantly unknowns.  Unless they were students of the great artists whom went on to make their individual mark in the world of art, most of the reclining, sublime nudes in classic pieces were anonymous.

In our era, photographic models are known by name- many have a very public and celebrity status image.  From amateur to fully professional, we recognise their faces and figures. We do not, however, recognise the abilities of the artists model in this respect (art in this instance referring to traditional art, respective to fine art photographers).  No figure delicately sculpted in oils, or face impastoed in bold strokes or repetitive graphite has us perking up in recognition of the subject.

My Homage to the Muse project- in conjunction with a variety of photographers in an array of styles - attempts to alter that. I wish to put a public face to those whom sit for hours for me whilst being sketched, or take direction for even more hours in a studio setting.  I desire also to attempt to portray the unique bonds which exist between Artist and Muse- there is an intimacy that is far differing from any other relationship - a trust, with mutual respect and desire for creative outcome. This project contains a complete variety of images - some show variations in power between the subjects - but all pay complete and utter homage to the models whom I am fortunate enough to work with.

This is also ongoing, so do check back often for further submissions.
